FREE - LIFE CHANGING BOOKS

Is there such a thing as life changing books? We believe there are and we believe such books should be available for free for they are… priceless.

Grasping this initiative, it is our intention to offer free access to books that someone, for some reason, considered life changing. In the process we hope to help anyone, who may be going through personal challenges of any kind, to transform their own lives.

There is a box available where the books can be left and collected from.

If you have a book that changed your life please deposit it in our “BOOKS FOR FREE” basket, perhaps with a note explaining how important that book was to you. (If you’d like to hear from whoever takes your book home please include your contact details inside). It doesn’t matter if the book is about spirituality, health or a fiction book. Anything that helped YOU.

If for some reason a book you choose disappoints you please return it to the shop as it may be the right book for someone else.

In order to keep this going please pass the word round, so that life changing FREE books are available at all times for those who may require them. If you can’t get to the shop you may still donate your book by sending it to:

Magna Carta Bookshop
Urb. Quinta da Praia
Lote 4 – Loja 10
8500 – 013 Alvor

Thank you for your support.

Central Meeting - Browns Sports and Leisure Centre

ASSERTIVENESS AT WORK

Do you need to get things done?

Are you frightened to ask your colleagues to do things, or do they answer back aggressively?

Assertiveness is getting your own way with respect for others. Open your mind to some simple techniques and become satisfied that you are achieving all you can.

This month's speaker will be Gwenda Daud. Gwenda was involved in the late 1980´s in a scheme for returning Women to Work and assertiveness training helped them to realise what could be done and boasted their self esteem. Everyone can benefit from looking at their system of internal principles and get things done without a fight. Because of the economic situation at the moment, everyone is delicate and on edge so now assertiveness at work is even more important.

STRATEGIC LIFESTYLE PLANNING

Raoul Ruiz, Financial advisor with EuroFinesco will present an enlightening and informative look at "Strategic Lifestyle Planning". SLP is a step onwards from understanding how our savings, investments, pensions etc. are functioning and what we should or could be doing by overlayering this with strategic, focused advice on: Personal and Corporate Tax; Debt Management; Investment Planning Structures and, of course, Cash Flow Analysis (very important for those saving and moving into retirement).

An unadvised client will still create wealth but with basic advice she will create and retain more. The ex-pat of any foreign nationality, can use this advice and extrapolate that with their existing advisers or authorities in their country of origin.

Also covered, the financial world in terms of the global financial crisis as well as relevant points to the global economies.

Directions: Exit the Via do Infante Motorway (A22) or EN 125 at exit for Alvor. Follow this road, past the Alvor Aerodrome, past the Santo Antonio Restaurant and on into Alvor. After passing a camp site and a Casa de Repouso on the left, you come to a fork, sign posted right to Alvor or left to Portimão. Take the left fork. At this stage you should see signs for Alto Golf. When you come to the large roundabout, turn left, i.e. last exit, and go up the hill, past Alisuper & Repsol garage. At the next roundabout, turn right. You go under a footbridge and immediately come to a small roundabout. Turn left at the roundabout and you are at Alto Golf. There is ample car parking and the meeting is in the new clubhouse.

Profile of Do Eves Network Fiscal Council

I was born in Hastings in Sussex U.K. My fi rst job was Secretary/Book-keeper/Tea Maker/gofer in an engineering company who produced engines for racing cars and power boats. I moved to the Midlands where I joined the British Horse Society as Marketing Officer, selling books and other resources, travelling to all major shows throughout UK, Scotland and Ireland. My motoring journalist husband then retired to Portugal after a heart attack., and I joined him a short while later.

I began life here selling greetings cards around the Algarve. I then teamed up with the BUPA lady. I joined Network and found it most friendly and very helpful in promoting my business.

The BUPA lady left for the UK and I took over the agency. I now work with Professional Investment Consultants in Carvoeiro providing all forms of Insurance including, motor, life, travel and of course health.

We provide unbiased and impartial advice. Any insurance issues you may have or help needed please do contact me. I am here to help.I look forward to serving on the Fiscal Council.

UK Brands Abroad

Are you fed up with paying exuberant prices for children’s clothes in stores like Kiddy’s Class, Zara (oh, they have the same stock) Metro Kids, Chicco and Benetton? Not content with the quality of the cheaper clothes available in the Zippy range by Continente? Neither are Philippa & Alisia founders of UK Brands Abroad. They have set up an on-line shop selling childrenswear through the ages, from babies to teens. What’s different about them? Well as the name suggests the majority of their stock are clothes from the UK high street stores such as Next, M&S, GAP, Mothercare, Disney, Monsoon, Tammy etc etc. Even better news is that they are being sold in Portugal at cheaper than the high street price in the UK. “We buy in bulk and try and keep our overheads as low as possible which is why we can pass on excellent cost savings to our clients” says Philippa.

“The fayres we have done so far have gone very well indeed with some lines selling out in the first day. We are not like your conventional shops, our stock changes and many lines are limited so it is very much first come first served! We are also arranging pick up points around the Algarve so clients can choose an alternative to paying for postage!

Visit www.ukbrandsabroad.com to browse and purchase their current stock or visit them at the International Algarve Fayre this 30th & 31st May where they will have a stand and be helping with the fashion show.

Lynn Kenney here....update

My news is that I am now involved, on a part time basis, with Virtual Tour photography, helping out experienced photographer Avi Cohen. My predecessor, Linda O’Donnell, who you all know from Network, has had to move to the UK and I have stepped in to help Avi out.

Please contact me on 964 825 114 for any of your photographic needs including still shots, aerial shots both still and 360 degree, and of course the Virtual tour 360 degree where you can literally ‘tour’ the
property from room to room of your own choice.

As you all know, I closed Bougainvillea Properties at the end of 2008, but for anybody with real estate needs, or connections, I still have a portfolio of properties and contacts in the Central Algarve region from Boliquieme to Sao Bras in the hills, and in the ‘Golden triangle’ area.

I would love to hear from anybody who has any proposals related to these.

Win a Cake!

Sweet Marilyn will give you a free cake or dessert from her luscious list if you can recommend a restaurant or high end cafe which will take her desserts. The ideal candidate for these cakes is a medium priced, owner operated restaurant between Burgau and Faro. It is ideal if you can connect first with the owner so they are expecting my approach.

If it works out, a free cake of your choosing and your timing is yours.
