This weekend, my partner Graham and I had the pleasure of spending a weekend at the Hotel Garbe. The hotel is a long term sponsor of Network, frequently hosting our admin meetings and members meetings, and in addition to the sponsorship is the well known host for the Network Xmas Fayre. Having frequented the venue, it was a real pleasure to enjoy it from a different perspective.
We arrived on Friday night to a warm and helpful reception from staff, who were extremely busy as it was Bank Holiday, and who found the time to help with parking as well as rooming. A gin and tonic on the verandah afforded us a great view of the beach, the sounds of fun and laughter mingling with the relaxing sounds of breaking waves. We had a splendid meal in the Raj before talking until midnight back on our verandah – isn’t it funny how being somewhere different just really helps you to relax, even though it may only be a half hours drive from home.
Breakfast provided an excellent range of fresh and cooked food, accompanied by relentlessly cheerful background music which facilitated a quick Viennese waltz over to the coffee machine. We went out for the day to see friends nearby, before a bar snack and a bottle of wine outside.
It was a real treat, It’s always good to experience firsthand the business of someone within the Network, so a big hats off to Vicki and all her staff.
We will be making the opportunity again to travel just up the coast into a slightly different world which left us feeling so relaxed. I can highly recommend it.
